Nicola Cattlin, EAMP, Dipl. Ac, MSTOM

Owner of Magnolia Healing Arts, LLC, Nicola Cattlin received her Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, CA. in 2004. After graduation, she continued her studies at the Chengdu University Hospital in China.

In 2007, Nicola started Magnolia Healing Arts in Portland with a strong focus on women’s health. Since then she has completed doula training and attended several births, including home-, hospital- and birth center births. She has pursued many continuing education courses, including an internship at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY in the labor and delivery ward. Supporting women in their journey to motherhood and beyond has always been her passion, but she also enjoys working with musculoskeletal issues, allergies, and other ailments.

Nicola was born and raised in Germany and is married to her British husband. Together they have two beautiful children and a silly dog. She loves to travel, read, ride horses and do yoga and pilates.

A personal note from Nicola:
“I have received acupuncture throughout both of my pregnancies. I had both of my babies close to their due date and completely naturally. It helped me during my first trimester nausea, with back pain and with mood/anxiety especially post-partum. The road to motherhood is not an easy one, but it is nice to know one is supported both physically and emotionally.”

“I went to see Nicola in my last few weeks of pregnancy. I was hurting in my back and hips. I also had a complication and was hoping to encourage labor. Nicola did a great job making me feel comfortable (no small feat!) and finding the areas that needed attention. I always left her office feeling less pain- and by the 3rd session was pain-free for a few days at a time! I am so very grateful to have had her support during that time!!”

“I have been going to Nicola for the past 5+ years. She has seen me through two pregnancies, severe migraines and a host of various aches and pains. Every time I see her she takes her time and listens intently to what is going on with my body that day. She knows which points work the best for my issues but always has ideas of how to switch things up or try new things — whether its for a new ailment or something I’ve been dealing with for a while. She has a very kind and compassionate personality with a great sense of humor. Just the kind of person you want sticking you with needles. I would recommend her for any thing that ails you.”

“While pregnant with my second child I was in search of an acupuncturist to assist in two ways. First, as with my first pregnancy, my ribs had popped out of place making the third trimester very uncomfortable. The second reason was to help get my body ready for labor and delivery as I was preparing for a VBAC.

On my first visit to Nicola, I immediately liked her and felt at ease. She listened to my pregnancy symptom complaints and asked a lot of questions about my first pregnancy and delivery of my son. I appreciated that she took to the time to understand my desire for a successful VBAC.

After each visit with Nicola I left feeling comfortable and rejuvenated. She made the last four weeks of my pregnancy much more comfortable and . . . I had a successful VBAC delivery of a beautiful baby girl!!”
